Currently, Dee is HR Director at Vue Entertainment where she has played an integral part in creating and building a new brand and moving the business from being part of a global corporate structure (Warner Bros) to a stand alone venture capitalist backed business and more recently through an MBO.
Prior to this, her roles have included heading up Global Talent Acquisition for the Reuter’s group and heading up the HR function for Virgin Megastores Ltd, UK, Eire and Northern Europe.
HR - being brave and emerging from the shadows
Over the years, many speakers have debated the role of HR as a strategic partner and how it should claim its place at the top table. This debate still continues. The HR profession still faces challenges in achieving equal status to its colleagues in other traditional functions such as Finance, Marketing, IT and Operations. We are still trying to define our role, justify our existence and prove that we have a right to be taken seriously as a credible business partner, at the highest level. Our colleagues take this for granted and confidently take their positions at the top table, whilst HR still tries to justify its existence.
During Dee’s time with Vue Entertainment, she has worked hard to achieve this status. During this session, Dee will share with you how she built a credible HR team and repositioned the HR function. 3 years ago, HR on the sidelines, delivering a reactive, transactional and administrative function. Dee’s 3 year HR plan has now been implemented and the HR function has emerged from the shadows as a key business function that adds value and is seen as a credible partner at the top table. It wasn't easy and the HR function is still evolving. Dee’s story is about the challenges she faced in making these changes, especially from within an industry that traditionally saw HR as a "junior" administration partner. She will also share with you how she successfully re-positioned the function to take on a highly visible role that now plays an integral part in shaping key business decisions.
We would be delighted if you could join us at our Breakfast Seminar, which will also be an excellent opportunity to meet with other Senior HR practitioners and talk informally over a croissant and a bacon sandwich!
